Benedikt G. Líndal or Benni is a Riding Instructor A and Master Horse Trainer of the Trainer Association of Iceland (FT). His professional career began after he graduated from the Agricultural School in Hvanneyri 1973 and won the award Morgunnblaðsskeifuna for the best result in horse training that semester. Since then he has worked in the area of horse training and riding instruction in Iceland and other countries, mostly in Denmark, Germany, Norway and Switzerland.
Benni worked for years as teacher at both Agricultural Colleges and was the head riding instructor at the Agricultural University in Hólar for the winter semester 1996-97. Apart from having drawn knowledge from older Icelandic trainers he has also studied a variety of training methods used by various internationally renowned foreign horse trainers. He has adapted this knowledge for the education and training of the Icelandic horse. In his dealings with students and the training of horses he has increasingly paid great attention to the well being of the horse and the understanding for its needs with regards to its relationship with man. “Horse friendly” training methods as well as “horse friendly” tack belong together.
That was the driving force behind the design of the Benni´s Harmony tack, two DVD´s, book and other teaching material.
